poster inspirations 1

The image above of a poster from Green Day is a design that I like and I may think about using this idea of having a stencil man as it follows with the text font that has been used for the bands name and it also reflects different things such as graffiti, vandalism, it shows the rock genre and so on... this is an idea at the moment and I will be looking into more poster designs that interest me....

Thursday 18th of November filming

on Thursday all of our planning and researching was put into good use as we used our old storyboard to copy some of the shots that we had performed in our draft, we used the animatic storyboard to decide what happened and when it happened and we also go all of the drumming shots done so we will not need the drums for the second stretch of our filming...

the next date that we plan on filming the second half of our final music video is on the 23rd of November and this is on a Tuesday, then all we need to do is edit all of our video clips.

Green day digipack analysis

here is the green day greatest hit CD digipack: as you can see this CD cover is the colour green and in the picture there is a shade of buildings, also the text is like grafiti and the font looks to be like an army font, and this shows that there is an urban / punk / rock feel to the CD cover as it fits in with most of the conventions of the genre of music which is rock.


below is a picture of the inside of the digipak and this follows the design of the front cover of the digipak as it is the same colour and most of the conventions that have been used on the cover have also been used on the inside such as the colour scheme, the text font in various places and there are also features inside of the digipak that have not been used on the cover and they are: shots of the band under where the CD goes, there is an image of a black stencil man being electrocuted and this image is also followed in the CD's, there are images of the bands other CD albums and there are finally CD trays/holders.

here is a list of what conventions this digipak follows; the band are shows in the digipak, the name of the band is shown on the front cover, list of the songs and other extras are listed on the back of the digipak, there is a brief and basic description of the band inside the digipak, there are reviews of that album inside the digipak, the design suits the genre of music, the colour scheme suites both the bands name and the genre of music, the font of the text suites the rock genre, there are pictures of previous CD album covers, the company that made the digipak has put their logo on, the artists in the portraits of them look like they are rock stars.

after looking at this digipak I have decided that it would be best if I take some of what I think are the best ideas for making a digipak from the this pre-existing digipak and then use some of the elements for when I and making our Digipak draft and final version.

Muse digipack analysis

Here is the Muse greatest hits digipak: and as you can see the design of the digipak is based around a cartoon abstract design with a variety of lines and circles and although this design does not seem like it suits the genre of music, the colours that are used do fit in with the genre of music as they are all dark and there are then bursts of colours that are dotted around the cover. The images that are on the digipak cover are: a woman that is white with some elements of red and pink, white lines, a red picture of palm trees and then there is the band’s name and logo dotted around and this is in white.

As you can see it the picture above there are some parts of the inside of the digipak showing and the design of the inside looks like it follows the design on the exterior of the digipak and this is shown by the lines continuing from where they end on the exterior of the digipak. The CD that is in the digipak is also following the colours and some aspects of the design as the CD is black with the band name on and there are red and white circles on the disk near the middle.

MCR digipack analysis

Here is the My Chemical Romance greatest hits digipak: and as you can see the design of this digipak is erupting with conventions and features of a rock genre of music, the design of this digipak is a shot of all five of the performers that are in the band and then it looks like the image has been Photoshopped. This cover has a black and white / greyscale shot of the band and then there is splatters of blood behind the name and logo of the band, the band’s name and logo is a dull gold so it stands out and this is the same for all of the text, the stance and positioning of the band is also typical of a rock genre as the lead singer is at the front and then all of the musicians are standing behind and this shows the power that the lead singer has.

As you can see in the picture below there is a shot of the inside of the digipak and the design is followed throughout the digipak and it is even on the disk. In the digipak there are: other shots of the band in the same location and the editing to the pictures are the same, there are blood splatters on the CD, the text is the same colour as the band’s name and logo the colours that are used are all dark and very dull and this is typical of the genre of music that they perform. The colour palette that this digipak has is very simple as there are four colours that are used, also the artists are dressed in clothing that is also typical to a rock genre of music as they are in black Gothic clothing.

I have came up with the idea of placing the band logo on the drum kit as this is most common in rock bands, I have chosen to place the logo on the centre bass drum as this is a place where the logo will be seen with ease and here is a shot of the logo on the on the drum kit:
