decision on what software I will be using for digi-pack
after looking into the interface, the features and the design of the three pieces of software I have decided to go with using Corel Paint shop pro and this is because it is always available to me, so this means that I can use the software to make our CD cover and label at any time and on any day, I have lots of experience . although Photoshop has more features in it, there is not much difference between the two main pieces of software as they have most of the same features and they are both concentrated on editing photos.
a look into Paint for CD cover and label
the software here is called Microsoft Paint and this software is available to me either by my laptop or the colleges computers. as you can see this software is not as advanced as the other two pieces of software and it has barely any features for editing the images so for that reason this software will not be used by me for when I am making our CD cover and label.
a look into Paint shop pro for CD cover and label
The software here is called Paint shop pro and this software is available to me all of the time as it is on my laptop and as you can see the software is similar to Photoshop, but it does not have some of the elements that are in Photoshop. This software is fully concentrated on editing photos as there are lots of functions that allow the user to edit an image. This software is possibly the one that I will be using as it is the best software that I have and that is also all ways available to me all the time.
a look into Photoshop for CD cover and label
The software here is called Photoshop and this is available to me via Lutterworth college and as you can see in this picture below there is a lot of different functions that it has and it is also a peice of software that is fully concentrated on editing photos. I think that this would be very good to use for making our CD cover and label, however I am not very experienced in using it.
software ideas for digi-pack
although I am not sure which software that I will be using to make the CD cover and label, I have been thinking about what software in which I will be using and the software that I will be thinking of using is either: Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint shop pro or windows paint. I will be looking into what would be the best software to use as I have no idea which will be best...
CD cover research
I have been looking into all of the different types of CD covers that exist in the genre of Rock and here are a few of what I have been looking at:

website research
I have been looking into a variety of different rock websites to pick up all of the different conventions hat they use and in the image below there is a screen shot of the green day web site:
as you can see the image that I have taken from the green day website it looks like a typical rock website as most of the colours that have been used are mainly dark and the text that is on the page is all in punk / graffiti. also all of the titles that are on the site are made with flash and this means that they are animated, if we can i think that we should use flash when we make our website.

alternative location idea (croft pub)
here are the images of the skittle alley that I have taken and I have also asked boss at the pub if we could use this area for filming our video and they had said that we could use the skittle ally and that we need to decide on a date that we will be using it as we will need to book it for the date that we are using
alternative location ideas for our filming
because of there being difficulties in the Rugby Car park location such as getting drums there, the lighting and availability of actors we have decided to look into more locations that are closer to where we live and I will be looking at a skittle alley in my local village that is owned by the pub and this is because I will be able to get drums up there and there is also a stage inside of the building. I will be looking at the building later on and I will also be taking some photos of the building to look research into with Nick and Damon to see what would be the best location that we have found.

idea for filling in storyboard with music....
because our storyboard takes around 1 minute to get to the music beginning to play I think that we should use a keyboard and just repeat the first couple of seconds that are playing as the keyboard as this will fill in the empty space that is in the music and it will also fill in some of the generic conventions that our storyboard did not meet the first time round and below is an example of what I'm on about
in this MP3 document there is the beginning of the music that we have chosen and I have edited the beginning of the song to extend it.

editing ideas for our music video
another editing idea that i have had is called colour isolation and this is basically making everything in the video turn black and white, but then there is a certain image in the clip that has colour in it fore example the flower in the image below:
as you can see the first thing that catches your eyes are the flowers that the woman is holding and this is because they are the only things in the picture with colour, therefore making the audience concentrate on the colour as it is more eye-catching. this is where I got my idea from and it will help show the audience some of the really important props that will be in our music video, therefore it will be useful to use. I will be looking into how to use the colour isolation editing.

storyboard animatic with lyrics
above is my final version of the story board animatic and I have made a few improvements as you can possibly see, if not then here they are:
1. in the first version there was a singer singing when there were no lyrics to be sung and I have put text over that picture saying that the singer is getting ready.
2. at 1:01 there is a shot of a guitarist strumming his strings yet there was no guitar being played in the background and I have solved this by swapping the guitar shot with a drum shot
3. there were shot of the band plugging in all of the equipment and there was music being played in the background and this did not fit so I have cut some of the songs beginning off to make it all fit together.
4. finally I have inserted lyrics into the animatic so that we can look at this storyboard video and then we will know exactly what to do as all of the needed information will be on the video , this includes shots, lyrics to be said and the timing

video of me testing the green screen editing
as you can see the screen is blue rather than being green and there are two reasons why? the screen is blue because it is much more easier to get a hold of a blue material rather than green and also Sony Vegas pro can edit red, green, blue and purple and they all use the same methods of editing its just a different colour.
animatic storyboard version 2 (full video)
I have made this video as I have found out that the previous animatic storyboard that I have made is on animoto and this made the video inaccurate, therefore it was no use, this video has every shot that we will be having in our music video and they are all in sequence order, in the background there is the song to give it a maximum effect on what it will actually be like and to also help with the timing....
solution for drum filming?
we have been having problems for being able to transport and finding friends that are willing to let us take their drums to Rugby so I have came up with an idea to use 'green screen editing' and this is basically filming action in front of a green screen and then cutting out the green screen to allow the user to insert a clip / picture of their choice to the background and this could also be used to make the person go into impossible places. I will start to research into green screen editing and I will begin to learn how to edit the green screen clip....
This is in case we cannot get a hands on a drum kit before we film our draft.

what day we will be filming our music video draft (outside part)
as a group we have discussed what days would be the best to start filming our music video draft and after the discussion I have been on the internet and I have been doing research on the weather forecasting systems (these can be seen on my Blog) of when it would be the best time and day to start filming, I discussed the date and the time with Nick and Damon and then we made our final decision that we will be filming our video draft outside scene on Monday the 18th of October at 18:00 and here are two different weather fore casts for that date and time of when we will start filming:
the picture on the left is a weather forecast from yowindow.com and the picture on the right is from the BBC weather forecast and both of these weather forecasting systems can be found on my blog, all you need to do is select the button that says weather forecast as shown below:
as you can see the date that we have arranged is forecast for being clear and this means that we will be able to do our filming draft for the outside on that date and time.

lyrics for what ive done
In this farewell
There's no blood
There's no alibi
Cause I've drawn regret
From the truth
Of a thousand lies
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands
Of uncertainty
So let mercy come
And wash away
What I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
For what I've done
I start again
And whatever pain may come
Today this ends
I'm forgiving what I've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what I've become
Erase myself
And let go of what I've done
(Na-na na na)
(Na-na na na)
(Na-na na na)
What I've done
(Na-na na na)
(Na-na na na)
(Na-na na na)

Forgiving what I've done

research into the band clothing
For the music video that we will be making I have hcame up with an idea for what the performers will be wearing and this will reflict on the genre of the music video as we will be doing a rock music video. I have been looking into all of the different band artists that are associated with rock and her are some of the ideas for clothing:
in the picture above we have the lead singer from ACDC and he is called Brian Johnson, in this picture he is wearing dark clothes and these include a dark blue vest, a grey hat and black geans and this clothing is typical of a rock artist, also in the background there is a musition and he is wearing more or less the same apart from the colour of his jeans.
in the picture above there is a shot of all of the artists that are in the band and they are al wearing dark clothes that all look the same, they are all wearing suits and two of them are wearing coates, I might think about using some of these clothing ideas in our music video
in this picture above there is all of the artists that are in the band and they are all wearing casual wear as they are all wearing t-shirts apart from one and he is wearing a sirt and these are typical of a drummer in the bands, I think that we shoud use this type of clothing for the drummers that will be in the band in our music video.
in this picture above there is a rock band an in this picture the main singer is in bright colours and this would be to draw al of the attention to that singer, in the background there are three men in black clothing and these are typical of the rock genre.
I have akso done further study into what other rock bands looklike and this can be found under the title of Moodboard 1 (people in the band)

the use of alcohol in our music video
for our music video I have came up with the idea of a man in a pub/bar/party drowning all of his sorrows with alcohol and I have received this idea from watching the Beastie Boys Fight for youre right to party music video and the use of alcohol in this music video was when one of the Beastie boys pours a bottle of Spanish Fly in the punch and this is typical of an American party, also in the video there are grey and some red plastic, disposable cups and these are also typical in an American party as they are in all videos based in America where there is a party and an example in a film would be:
Tranformers 2 when Sam goes into the house where there is a party and writes a series or seemingly random lines and letters here is a shot from the scene and the drinks cups are show in a red circle:
if we are going to use the alcoholic part in our video then we would need to find an English alternative for using the alcohol as it will then fit in with what we are going to be applying in our music video and here are a few alternatives that I have came up with:
I have also came up with an idea to use a beer bong although this is not a typical English drinking method it is mostly common in parties and it I think that it would be a possible idea to use it...
